In the previous post of this series I explained briefly twitter terminology. In this post I will mention the twitter limits on several of its usage patterns. It is quite important to know these limits as they may keep your account safe from suspensions or hackings etc.
Its worth noting that some of the twitter limits are exact and some are subjective. Twitter
doesn't mentions some of its limits to maintain their quality. Because knowing the exact
limits can result in gaming with twitter.
- The most popular - 140 characters per tweet.
- Updates : You can tweet 1000 tweets per day. RTs to be included.
- The daily update limit is further broken down into smaller limits for semi-hourly intervals. This one is not exact as mentioned above.
- Twitter lets you see only most recent 3200 tweets posted by you.
- You can post 250 Direct messages per day
- 4 Email account changes allowed per hour.
- API Requests: 150 per hour. APIs are used by 3rd party clients and applications.
- You can follow at most 1000 twitter users per day.
- You can follow at most 2000 twitter users (in total) if your own followers count is less than 2000.
- Once an account is following 2,000 other users, additional follow attempts are limited by account-specific ratios. Twitter will let you mention when you hit limit. This limit is also not exactly mentioned by twitter.
twitter suspensions.
